Basic Facts on Critters
The term “critter” is not part of the scientific Taxonomy of species. But there are many small animals that have been tamed (and, to some degree, domesticated) by humans as pets.

The One Zoo Tree meaning of critter is therefore a living creature that many have as pets, either fully or partially domesticated or sufficiently tamed to stay with humans.
The way we work with critters is in many ways completely different from what we would do if we found each of these species in the wild.
NB: Most of the species listed as critters can still be found in the wild.
List of different Critters species
We currently have nine different species that are domesticated enough to be classified as critters.
- Chinchilla
- Ferret
- Gerbil
- Guinea Pig
- Hamster
- Hedgehog
- Pigeon
- Rabbit
- Silkworm
If you want to learn more about all of the creatures, join us in the community (it’s FREE!). Or go to the COURSE DIRECTORY to read up on the basic facts of each species.
