What does a Pet Store Assistant focus on?
A Pet Store Worker mainly assists clients with their purchases (of pets, supplies or accessories) and gives general advise on pet care. Keep these requirements in mind, and discuss it with your school, guidance counselor and parents to ensure that you are prepared!
6. What will I need to study to become a Pet Store Assistant?
Minimum educational requirements:
Generally, Pet Store Workers must have at least a minimum of a high school diploma, when working for an established business. There are no further requirements for becoming a pet store worker, however experience with animals and an animal related qualification will enhance your CV and put you in a strong position when applying for jobs.
Although further education is not necessary, the best pet store worker learns additional skills on the job, or acquire skills through completing short courses.
When you do decide to further your skills, you might want to focus on short courses that specializes in caring for pets as well as dealing with pet behavioral issues. To enable promotion to Manager, in-house training and courses in management will be good.
The duration of short courses differ, but can range from a few days to a few weeks.

7. Licenses, Certification, Registration and Professional Associations
Certain animal care careers require some form of legal certification to prove that you can indeed do the work, and work with the necessary equipment.
There is NO special legal requirements necessary to become a pet store assistant. The pet store and it’s owner will need a lot, though.
